About Maritime Barriers         Line of Demarcation         Small Craft Barrier         Port Security Barrier

Any company can show engineering calculations that a barrier can stop a boat.  Ask for proof.  Ask for real results from actual physical crash tests.
If they CAN'T show it..
they WON'T stop it!

Worthington has tested ALL its barriers in physical crash tests not once, but twice!  Some failed, others passed.  Call us and we'll share with you what we've learned

At 40 knots, a terrorist attack boat travels 67 feet every second.  Stopping that boat in 1.5 seconds might not be quick enough.  Ask our port security specialist about our 0.5 second capture time.

Since September 11, 2001 Worthington has installed over 42,000 lineal feet of maritime security barriers.  Worthington offers a full range of waterway barriers for low, mid-level and critical MARSEC needs.

Line of Demarcation:   These barriers will not stop a motor-powered boat.  Their function is to define a controlled access zone where routine marine patrols are able to adequately intercept and stop intruders.  A line of demarcation is NOT a buoy line.  A line of demarcation consists of a continuous floating barrier system that  when crossed demonstrates a clearly hostile intent.  This type of barrier is not to be too high above the water so that terrorists can hide behind or mask their approach.

Small Craft Barrier:  96% of boats in the USA are below 26 feet in length.  The U.S. Coast Guard classifies these boats as a Class 1 type vessel.  Small craft barriers are designed and tested to stop a small motor powered boat up to a Class 1 rating.  This is a boat with a length of 16 feet to less than 26 feet.  Worthington offer several variations of a small craft barrier some of which feature topside (above water) vessel capture system composed of cabling or netting.

Port Security Barrier:   Our TUFFCAT line of maritime barriers are designed with just one goal in mind.... to stop an attacking boat!   TUFFCAT barriers are used by the US Coast Guard, US Nuclear Power Industry, Nigerian LNG terminals and at US Naval facilities.   TUFFCAT is the result of extensive engineering backed by stringent physical crash tests and proven tough during the ravages of hurricane Rita.
